The Importance of the Wedding Ceremony Speech

The wedding ceremony speech is one of the most important parts of your wedding day. This speech is given by the officiant prior to the exchange of vow and varies depending on your religious tradition and personal preference. If you are of a particular religious persuasion, your officiant may have a speech that he always gives at weddings. For example, a Christian wedding will include prayer and reading of Scripture in addition to a speech that talks about the sacred joining of husband and wife in a Biblical way. A Jewish wedding will include readings from the Torah and may also include Hebrew prayer.

But what can you do if you are not religious or are not having a religious ceremony? In this case, there are a great many alternatives. You can go for a speech that talks about the civil responsibilities and importance of marriage from a non-religious standpoint. Your wedding ceremony speech should be personal and special. You may also want it to be traditional and reflect your cultural and spiritual beliefs.
