Finding an Officiant to Perform Wedding Ceremony



When it comes to choosing someone to perform wedding ceremony, there are many options available. The first thing you will want to consider is what kind of wedding you are going to have. Many people choose to have a religious ceremony. In this case, it will be easy to find someone to marry you. If you and your betrothed belong to a church, synagogue or mosque, the officiant there may be chosen to perform your wedding. If you are not active members of a religious organization, you may have to rely on recommendations from friends and family or even turn to the Yellow Pages.

If you are in a mixed religion marriage, a new trend is to have two officiants. Each one would of course represent the religious affiliation of the bride and groom. For example, a Jewish bride and a Christian groom may have a rabbi and a minister to preside over their wedding. Another idea would be to choose a non-religious ceremony and thus a non-religious officiant. For this you may want to choose a Unitarian pastor. Or, you may want to go for someone who has no religious affiliation whatsoever.

You may even want to choose a friend or family member to marry you. There are ways to become ordained even if you do not belong to a religious organization. You can also choose someone like the Justice of the Peace to preside over your ceremony. This is often done by couples who elope, or want a simple legal ceremony without a lot of bells and whistles. Choosing an officiant for your wedding is an important part of planning your special day and should be carefully considered by both the bride and groom.

The officiant you choose to perform wedding ceremony should understand what kind of ceremony you want and be willing to go through a rehearsal to ensure everything goes as planned. You may be wondering about the cost of hiring someone to marry you. The fees vary depending on a variety of factors such as your geographic location, who you choose to marry you and how in-depth your ceremony is going to be. Normally the cost is quite affordable and is one of the least expensive things you'll pay for when planning a wedding.
